About Us

Dr. Corebit was formed in 2005 by Albert Giesecke, founder and 15-year owner of Diamond Cut, Inc., a concrete cutting, coring and drilling company of Davenport, Iowa.  During that ownership period, a system was developed to reset concrete cutting core bits by cutting off the worn end of the barrel, notching it and installing new diamond segments.  This process would essentially yield a new core bit at a decreased cost, and resulted in recycling barrels instead of discarding them.

Upon selling Diamond  Cut in 2004, Mr. Giesecke kept the resetting equipment and continued to reset core bits for Diamond Cut, Inc. and others in the area, whose scope of work included core-drilling holes in concrete and masonry.  (Mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing contractors and pro-cutters, etc.).  In 2005, he was joined by Marketing Manager, Chuck Heady, and Dr. Corebit, LLC was founded.  They currently reset bits for contractors in Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin and Indiana.  They also manufacture and sell new DRILLMASTER core bits.

While large, specialty core drilling jobs are usually sublet to concrete cutting contractors such as Diamond Cut, Inc., there are many smaller jobs that are done in house by the contractors’ own forces.  Many contractors have used barrels in their shops that could be put back into working  condition for less money than replacing them.  Some may be worn out and some may just need a missing segment or two replaced.  Either way, they can be repaired or reset for much less than the cost of a new bit.  The larger the barrel, the greater the savings.  If the barrel is beaten up, out of round or not resettable for any reason, they also furnish new professional-grade core bits at a reasonable price.  Whether new or reset, DRILLMASTER core bits, which are all assembled at their facility in Silvis, Illinois, will meet job requirements and reduce drilling costs.  And, having been developed from a concrete cutting background, Dr. Corebit understands the core drilling process and can design and build core bits for a wide variety of coring situations.  This is the reason Pro-Cutters prefer DRILLMASTER, new and reset core bits over the other brands available.
